CUMMING — In response to member requests, Sawnee Electric Membership Corp. has announced it will eliminate the convenience fee for “on demand” credit and debit card payments on Jan. 1.

Those are ones that are not set up to be paid “automatically” each month.

The decision came after an internal review, financial analysis and vote by Sawnee EMC’s board of directors.

Blake House, vice president of member services, said in a statement that the decision will “make a lot of members very happy.”

Cumming-based Sawnee EMC provides electricity to about 158,600 accounts in seven counties of greater north Georgia, including Forsyth.
