U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss will address a Forsyth County audience next week.

The Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce will hold a barbecue lunch with the senator at 11:30 a.m. April 12 in the Lanier Technical College Forsyth Conference Center.

James McCoy, president and CEO of the chamber, said the senator is always a big draw for business people.

“We only have two [U.S.] senators and I think Saxby Chambliss has positioned himself very well as being a recognized and outspoken advocate of business,” he said.

Lindsey Nelson, the chamber’s director of communications and events, said more than 100 people have signed up to attend so far.

“I think we’ll probably end up with around 250 people,” she said.

McCoy said the audience, which will include members of the five Rotary Clubs in the county, likely can expect to hear a legislative update from Chambliss.

“I’m sure we’ll get an update from him about what’s going on in D.C.,” he said. “The budget process is beginning right now, so we’ll probably hear his thoughts on that and what are his biggest legislative priorities.”

Tickets to the lunch are $23.50 for chamber members and $30 for non-members, Nelson said.

Lunch will be provided by Jim ‘N Nicks Barbecue from The Avenue Forsyth shopping mall.

Anyone interested in attending should R.S.V.P. by 5 p.m. Tuesday. Seats are available on a first come, first served basis.
