Senior Expo on Saturday at Forsyth Conference Center
Winter weather moved event from February

FORSYTH COUNTY — Forsyth County senior citizens can learn more about their health and community Saturday during the annual Senior Expo.

The event, organized by Forsyth County Senior Services, is set for 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Lanier Technical College Forsyth Conference Center, 3410 Ronald Reagan Blvd.

The free expo will feature vendors with information about health care, insurance, financial planning and other services.

Seniors will also be able to get free health screenings, including tests for osteoporosis, hearing and vision, from local medical professionals.

Refreshments and door prizes will also be available.

The expo, which is in its 13th year, is typically held in the winter. But inclement weather in February forced it to be rescheduled. About 1,500 people usually attend.

Julie Gruen, special events team leader with senior services, said the expo is useful for those seeking information and advice.

“It helps not to make things so overwhelming when you get to talk to someone in person and get your questions answered,” she said. “It’s a really fun and valuable event to come to.”
