SOUTH FORSYTH — Four South Forsyth High School students recently were honored by the Atlanta Hawks for a marketing project.

Will Bradley, Katherine Gall, Alex Forbes and Trey Janes won second place at the professional basketball team’s DECA Sports Marketing Competition earlier this month.

Of 75 entries from across Georgia, the team won for their marketing plan that involved increasing ticket sales to a Hawks’ home game by creating a Court of Dreams School Spirit Night.

“This event is an incredible opportunity for our students to test themselves in an environment that cannot be duplicated in the classroom,” said Seth Hutchinson, sports and entertainment marketing teacher at South.

For the third year in a row, students in South’s program have placed in the top five by designing and presenting a realistic promotion plan the Hawks could actually use.

They were presented an award prior to a game at Phillips Arena by Emily Hanover, senior consultant for group membership, and other Hawks marketing executives.
