After little more than a month under new ownership, the Cumming and Gainesville branches of State Bank and Trust Co. will close Feb. 26.

The branch at 311 Green St. in Gainesville was known previously as Hall Community Bank, a subsidiary of the Buckhead Community Bank of Atlanta.

The Buckhead company also owned Forsyth Community Bank in Cumming.

In December, after the Buckhead company failed, all of its branches were closed and acquired by the State Bank and Trust Co., based in Macon.

“Checking account customers’ accounts will automatically transfer to the Alpharetta location,” said Tony Collins, State Bank executive vice president.

“If they want to continue with us as customers that would be wonderful, but if they decide it would be more convenient for them to bank with a local (company) we understand that and will assist them with that process.”

For customers interested in staying with the bank, the closest branch would be in Alpharetta, company officials say.

Although the local State Bank locations will be closing toward the end of the month, customers wishing to do so will be able to close or transfer their accounts at any time.
