Leaders were pleased with how the 25thanniversary of a local golf tournament turned out.

The Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce held the event Monday at Polo Golf & Country Club.

Laura Stewart, the chamber’s director of communications and events, said it made for “an enjoyable day.”

“The weather was fabulous, probably better than we could have even imagined,” she said. “I think everyone enjoyed that.”

She also noted that the tournament saw “a really good turnout” of “right at 100 players,” which had been the goal.

James McCoy, president of the chamber, said that while the event likely has changed a lot over a quarter century, the goal of providing a fun opportunity to network has remained the same.

“I’m sure compared to the first golf tournament that the chamber ever hosted, we’ve come a long, long way, because in the intervening years the community has changed a great deal,” he said.

“But at the end of the day, what we really kept our focus on was just delivering a really solid event for people to build good relationships and enjoy themselves.”
