A 3-year-old boy died Sunday after being struck by his father’s vehicle in a north Forsyth neighborhood, authorities said.
According to a Forsyth County Sheriff’s report, authorities responded about 4:30 p.m. to reports that a child had been run over by a vehicle at a home on Hampton Rock Lane.
The report shows that the child’s father was cleaning the interior of a 2010 Dodge Challenger when it was apparently knocked out of gear.
The vehicle rolled down the driveway and over the toddler, according to the report
The child was taken to Northside Hospital-Forsyth, where he died about an hour later as a result of his injuries.
Sheriff’s Capt. Tim House described the incident as “horrific.”
“The public needs to be cognizant of where their children are and take extreme precautions if they’ve got them outside around a car,” House said.
The case remains under investigation, but House said charges are not expected.
