FORSYTH COUNTY -- Parts of Forsyth County saw up to 3.25 inches of rain Sunday night and into Monday, causing some creeks and rivers in the area to flood.

The county remained under a flood watch until 2 a.m. Tuesday, according to Laura Belanger, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service’s office in Peachtree City.

At least two Forsyth County roads — Chattahoochee between Shady Grove and Holtzclaw roads and Bettis Tribble Gap at Heatherwyn Way — were closed for a short time as a result of fallen trees.

And Nicholson Road, between Old Federal and Montclair Hills roads, in the northwest portion of the county.

“There have been a few brief closures due to trees or power lines down throughout the day, but they were handled quickly and reopened,” said Jodi Gardner, director for Forsyth County’s Department of Communications.

Tuesday likely will remain cloudy, but with just a 30 percent chance of rain. Only scattered and isolated activity is expected, according to Belanger.

As things clear up, temperatures should rise by Wednesday, likely into the 70s and should continue to climb through the weekend.
