Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to Action Specialty Carts, 1891 McFarland Parkway in south Forsyth at 8:50 a.m. June 7 to investigate reports that 35 golf carts worth more than $212,000 had been stolen from the business.
Action Specialty Carts, which rents out golf carts for special events, businesses and individuals, noticed a loss in inventory three weeks before when one of the employees said that they didn’t have enough golf carts for the weekend’s rentals, according to a sheriff’s office incident report.
Reports state that the 35 golf carts had been stolen over the span of six months.
Darren Crosby, the company’s owner, didn’t initially notice the loss due to some carts moving from event to event. And overall, he isn’t happy with the loss.
“It sucks,” Crosby said to the Forsyth County News on Monday.
Crosby has a tracking system that lists which carts are supposed to be at his store and which are supposed to be rented out. This very system with an Excel sheet is what helped him figure out how many were missing and their model.
While a list of suspects has been compiled by local authorities, no one has been charged with the crime.
If you have any information about the theft, please contact the local the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office at (770) 781-3087.
