GAINESVILLE -- Five men charged in an undercover operation in October 2015 were indicted last week for allegedly attempting sex trafficking.

Sambo Kong, 30, of Athens, David Bryan Bryant, 49, of Gainesville, Clifford Allen Nash, 38, of Commerce, Aaron Clayton Boone, 33, of Cleveland, and Sagarkumar Chetankumar Patel, 23, of Oakwood, were indicted Dec. 15 by a Hall County grand jury. All five face charges of criminal attempt to traffic persons for sexual servitude, criminal attempt to commit pandering of a person under the age of 16 and criminal attempt to commit statutory rape.

Boone additionally faces a charge of criminal attempt to commit aggravated sexual battery.

Attempts to reach attorneys Dan Parr, Ted Cassert and Brian Hansford for comment were unsuccessful.

“Human trafficking is a serious offense, and I think he’s overcharged,” Kong’s attorney Graham McKinnon said Thursday.

According to the indictments, the men are accused of sending messages to an undercover Georgia Bureau of Investigation agent and “negotiating a price for sexual intercourse.” The charges also allege the men believed the agent was under the age of 16.

At the Magistrate Court committal hearings for Kong, Nash and Boone, the judge reduced the charges to electronic enticement of a minor.
