A Georgia State Patrol Trooper has been arrested in Forsyth County and charged with aggravated child molestation, authorities say.

Brian Sanchez, 24, of Forsyth County was taken into custody by the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office on Monday, Sept. 23, 2019 and was charged with aggravated child molestation, child molestation and sexual battery by the Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI).

According to GBI spokeswoman Nelly Miles, on Sept. 4, 2019, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office requested the GBI to conduct an investigation into an incident that allegedly occurred in Cumming involving Sanchez.

On Tuesday the Georgia Department of Public Safety stated that Sanchez had worked for the Georgia State Patrol Trooper since Nov. 1, 2017, but was terminated from the department following the GBI’s charges.

Sanchez turned himself into the Forsyth County Jail on Monday evening without incident, Miles said.

Sanchez is being held in the Forsyth County Jail under no bond.
