HALL COUNTY -- A Jefferson man allegedly seen nude at Lake Lanier campgrounds is accused of attempting to hurt two deputies trying to detain him, according to authorities.

Jeffery Lynn Everett, 52, is charged with two counts of felony obstruction and public indecency from an alleged incident Friday at Lanier Islands. He was booked into the Hall County Jail, where he remained, as of Wednesday afternoon.

According to authorities, Everett was “observed nude in the vicinity of other patrons of the campgrounds” and was asked to leave the property.

“He refused to leave several hours after having been asked to do so by (Lanier Islands) personnel,” Hall County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Scott Ware wrote in a news release.

Everett then allegedly gave responding deputies a fake name.

“Everett attempted to strike a deputy before running into the lake and refusing to come out of the water,” Ware wrote.

Ware said he allegedly attempted to hurt another deputy who was also in the water trying to arrest him.

Everett also faces four counts of misdemeanor obstruction, criminal trespass and false information to an officer.
