Authorities say that suspects may have used power tools to cut through the roof and wall of a south Forsyth business in an attempt to burglarize a jewelry store early Monday morning.
According to Cpl. Doug Rainwater, spokesman for the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, at about 2 a.m. Monday deputies were notified that an alarm had been triggered at RK & Co. Jewelers on McGinnis Ferry Road in south Forsyth.
At the scene they found that the roof of Lush Nail Salon had been sawed through and an adjoining wall between the salon and RK & Co. Jewelers had been partially cut through using a sawzall-type power tool.
Rainwater said they believe the suspects lowered themselves into the salon with a rope, attempted to cut through the wall and fled when the alarm was triggered. But nothing was stolen from the scene and the jewelry store was never fully entered by the suspects, he said.
Several pieces of physical evidence were left behind at the scene, Rainwater said.
