Authorities: Woman falsely reported rape at Dahlonega trail
Lumpkin County

A woman who told authorities she had been raped at the Lake Zwerner reservoir trails in Dahlonega is now accused of falsely reporting the crime, according to authorities.

Rebekah Lim was charged Monday with a felony count of making false statements. She was booked in to the Lumpkin County Detention Center, where a bond has not yet been set.

Lim told authorities she had been raped May 24 while running on the trail.

“The trail was immediately searched for evidence and suspects. Nothing was discovered,” according to the Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office press release.

Investigators continued on the case for the following week.

“During the investigation, video surveillance cameras on the square of the city of Dahlonega and (University of North Georgia) campus were viewed, as well as Ms. Lim’s cellphone logs,” according to the press release. “All evidence gained during the investigation showed that Ms. Lim had falsely reported that she had been raped on the reservoir trails and further indicated she was never at or on the reservoir trail during the time she alleged the crime had occurred.”
