CUMMING -- Officials on the scene of a Saturday afternoon crash on Canton Highway said a bicyclist was seriously injured when she was struck by a car.  

Firefighters said the woman had very serious injuries and was taken to North Fulton Hospital.

Officials had initially called for a medical helicopter but decided to transport her by ground ambulance instead due to the response time of the estimated helicopter.

The cause of the accident, which closed Canton Hwy. (Hwy. 20) for about two hours on July 30, beginning just after 4 p.m., remains under investigation by the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.
