Authorities are now searching for a burglary suspect that was caught on security camera ransacking a Cumming antique store last week.

On April 19, the Cumming Police Department responded to 351 Canton Road in Cumming to investigate reports that a burglary had occurred overnight. Upon arrival at the business, 2 Old Dogs, an officer found that the front windows had been shattered and furniture inside the business had been broken and overturned, according to an incident report obtained by the Forsyth County News.

According to Rhonda Forsyth, owner of Treasure Hunters Estate Finds, which shares a space with 2 Old Dogs, the suspect looted thousands of dollars’ worth of merchandise from the business, on top of all the damage caused in the store itself.

"They basically just wiped out all our display cabinets with jewelry," Forsyth said.

Among the stolen items she said were dozens of pieces of antique jewelry, knives, pieces of silver and arrowheads that were several hundred years old.

She said that from the video it looked like the suspect had been in the store previously and knew what he was looking for.

"I was kind of shocked," she said. "The store window was completely busted out ... I think he really knew what he was doing."

On Tuesday, Forsyth said they are hopeful that the suspect will be caught, but feel disheartened at the loss and impact on their business.

"It's a horrible impact … That stuff you can't really replace," she said. "A small business struggles to do well and then, bam, you've got someone working against you."

According to Cumming Police Department Deputy Chief Aletha Barrett, anyone who recognizes the suspect or with any information about this crime can call the police department at (770) 781-2000 and ask for investigations.
