Authorities are investigating three reports of Christmas wreaths being set on fire Tuesday in a north Forsyth subdivision.

Doug Rainwater, spokesman for the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, said residents in Bridgetowne, which is off Hwy. 369, found wreaths hanging on doors had been set ablaze overnight.

“One whole door was caught on fire because of the wreaths,” Rainwater said.

The first report was called in about 3:40 a.m. to a home on Fourth Rail Lane, said Forsyth County Fire Division Chief Jason Shivers.

That incident caused some damage to the front porch, he said.

The sheriff’s office contacted fire investigators Tuesday morning with reports of wreaths having been burned at two additional homes on the same street.

“The fire department will be working very closely with the sheriff’s office to make determinations of who was at fault,” Shivers said. “Obviously, they were intentionally set fires.”
