Forsyth County News
A Forsyth County Sheriff’s deputy is recovering from facial injuries suffered when his bicycle struck a car.

Sheriff’s Capt. Frank Huggins said Michael Strickland, 41, was off duty when the collision occurred about 7:45 p.m. Monday at Old Atlanta and Brannon roads, just south of Cumming.

According to a sheriff’s report, Strickland was traveling south on Old Atlanta when he collided with the rear passenger side of a 2006 Infiniti driven by Rochelle Yedvarb, 63.

Yedvarb was turning left onto Brannon from Old Atlanta.

Strickland was taken to North Fulton Hospital in Roswell, where he was treated and released.

Yedvarb did not report any injuries. She was cited for failure to yield when turning left.

Huggins said Strickland has been with the sheriff's office since April 2008. He is assigned to the north precinct uniform patrol division. It was not clear when he would return to work.
