Authorities have arrested a local man in connection with a stabbing that left one man dead in northeast Forsyth County on Sunday morning.
Jesus Olvera Gonzalez, 40, of Forsyth County was taken into custody by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office at about 5:11 a.m., after first responders arrived at a residence in the 5600 block of Archer Avenue in northeastern Forsyth and found one deceased adult male with stab wounds.
According to sheriff’s office spokesman Cpl. Doug Rainwater witnesses at the scene identified Gonzalez as the attacker to first responders and he was detained by deputies in the driveway of the residence.
Rainwater said that at this point investigators are still trying to determine the relationship between Gonzalez and his alleged victim, as well as what events precipitated the stabbing.
Gonzalez has been charged with murder and is being held in the Forsyth County Jail under no bond.
Rainwater said that additional charges could be filed as the sheriff’s office’s Major Crimes Unit continues its investigation into the stabbing.
Presently authorities are attempting to notify the victim’s next of kin, but Rainwater stated on Monday that they have determined that the man was from Habersham County.
