Authorities spent Tuesday morning searching for the man who reportedly robbed an employee outside a fast food restaurant on a busy corner near Cumming.

The incident happened about 6 a.m. in the parking lot of Burger King at Buford and Atlanta highways (Hwy. 20 and Hwy. 9) just outside Cumming.

Forsyth County Sheriff's Capt. Frank Huggins said a female employee was struck over the head with an unknown object.

Huggins said it appeared the suspect had been hiding near a trash bin.

Sheriff's Capt. Paul Taylor said the man approached the employee from behind and then took "proceeds from the business."

Huggins said authorities searched the area with dogs, but were not able to find the suspect, who ran off.

The employee, whose identity has not been released, was not able to describe the suspect. It was dark, authorities said, and there were no witnesses.

The woman was treated at the restaurant for her injuries, but was not taken to a hospital, Huggins said.

The restaurant, which straddles the corner of the busy intersection, opens at 6 a.m. As of lunchtime Tuesday, it was open for business.

The investigation is continuing.
