SOUTHWEST FORSYTH — Authorities continued their hunt Tuesday for a suspect who a day earlier reportedly attempted to rob the United Community Bank in the Midway community of southwest Forsyth.

The man, described as wearing a brown hoodie and sunglasses, drove an older-model, white four-door Honda Accord.

The suspect was last seen in the vicinity of Francis Circle and Hwy. 9, though he is no longer thought to be in the area.

According to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, the unsuccessful robbery attempt was made through the bank’s drive-thru lanes about 3:20 p.m.

There was a heavy law enforcement presence in the area during Monday’s evening commute.

Sheriff’s deputies searched for the suspect, who was not believed to be armed, until about 5:30 p.m.

Although there is no longer an active search and perimeter setup, investigators are following up leads Tuesday, said Doug Rainwater, a spokesman with the sheriff’s office.
