Two arrested on drug and weapons charges 

Two local people have been arrested and charged with a variety of drug charges after nearly 100 prescription pills were found in their possession during a traffic stop.

According to an incident report from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office filed April 17, deputies responded to a business in north Forsyth to reports that the driver of a pickup truck appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. 

In the report, a deputy stated that they observed the vehicle in question leaving a parking lot and followed it down several roads observing multiple traffic violations. When the vehicle was stopped, the deputy made contact with two individuals, a man and woman, who stated that they had just left Dunkin’ Donuts and before that they were washing the truck. 

“I noticed the passenger appeared to have small pupils despite the dark atmosphere and appeared to have a very sluggish demeanor,” the deputy stated of the male suspect. 

The report states that upon a search of the two suspects deputies found more than 50 pills of various types, more than $400, a large knife and handgun. 

Upon a search of their vehicle more pills were found in a plastic bag. The report states that the male suspect agreed to allow deputies to search through his phone and that when searched, his phone allegedly revealed to deputies that the subject had been trading and selling pills to other people. 

Both suspects were arrested and taken to the Forsyth County Jail on charges of possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of a felony, possession of schedule III, IV and V substances and other charges.


Propeller stolen from boat in storage

Local authorities are looking for any information into the identity of thieves that stole the propeller off a boat in north Forsyth sometime in early April. 

According to an incident report from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office filed April 18, deputies responded to an address on Browns Bridge Road to reports that the propeller had been stolen from a boat in storage sometime between April 2 and April 18. 

In the report, the deputy reports that there were cameras within the storage area, but no suspects were available at the present time. 


Local man arrested for stealing whiskey 

Authorities have arrested a man from Dawsonville on charges of shoplifting after he allegedly stole bottles of whiskey from a liquor store in north Forsyth. 

According to an incident report from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office filed April 19, the suspect allegedly entered the store, removed a bottle of whiskey and left the store without attempting to pay for it.  

The suspect “departed the store and threw the bottle into the bushes. He left in a black Chevy pickup truck,” the report stated.

In the report, a deputy states that the suspect was stopped in a vehicle matching the description given at the scene of the alleged theft. 

“I questioned [the suspect] about the shoplifting incident. He claimed it was not a smart decision and could not give me a genuine reason why he stole the alcohol,” the report stated. 

The report states that the suspect was arrested for theft by shoplifting and booked into the Forsyth County Jail.
