Anyone with information regarding the sculpture’s disappearance is asked to call the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office South Precinct at (770) 781-3047.
A copper sculpture of an eagle has been reported missing from a Forsyth County recreational area.
The 400-pound piece of artwork greeted visitors to the Bethelview Road trailhead of the Big Creek Greenway multi-use trail in south Forsyth.
County officials say the sculpture was taken Monday night or early Tuesday morning.
“This is the first time something of this nature has occurred at a Forsyth County park or recreational area,” said Parks and Recreation Director Jerry Kinsey. “It is certainly our hope that the sculpture will be returned.”
The eagle sculpture is estimated to be about 6 feet tall, with a wingspan of about 8 feet.
Funded by a grant, the sculpture was installed at the trailhead in April.
