DAWSONVILLE — A Dawsonville man was shot in the face during an overnight altercation with his roommate at their Sandberg Way home off Perimeter Road, according to authorities.

Dawson County Sheriff's spokesman Capt. Tony Wooten said officers remained on the scene of the shooting in the Stonewall subdivision, across from Dawson County High School, Wednesday morning.

"The call came in at 2:25 a.m. When deputies arrived, they saw the man that had been shot walking down the road," Wooten said. "He was taken by ambulance to northeast Georgia Medical Center and later flown by helicopter to Atlanta Medical. That is our most recent update on his condition."

No charges have been filed in the case, though Wooten said the alleged shooter, another male that lived at the home, was detained at the scene "for everybody's safety."

An adult female and two teenagers also live at the home and were present when the shooting occurred.

Authorities have not revealed the relationship between the three adults, other than to say they all reside at the home.

"A search warrant was obtained last night to go in the house and work it as the crime scene," Wooten said.

The case remains under investigation.
