NORTH FORSYTH — Authorities are searching for a theft suspect who ran off after abandoning a stolen vehicle Tuesday morning in northwestern Forsyth County.
Deputies stopped the vehicle around the Green Summers subdivision off Burnt Bridge Road, but the man drove away, according to Robin Regan, a spokesman with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.
The vehicle, which had been reported stolen in neighboring Cherokee County, was recovered a short time later after the suspect ditched it before running away.
Regan said deputies with tracking dogs have established a perimeter while they search the area.
The man is described as white and his mid-20s to early 30s with a shaved head, a tattoo on the back of his head and face, as well as tattoos covering his arms.
Regan said he was last seen wearing a white T-shirt.
There is no indication the man is armed, Regan said, but anyone who comes in contact with him is advised to not approach him and call 911 or the non-emergency line at (770) 781-3087.
