A deputy looks inside a van involved in a chase

A Cumming Police Department traffic stop turned into a police chase about 9:40 Tuesday evening.

When the suspect, who has not been named, fled, deputies joined in the chase according to watch commander Lt. Jonathon Neville, with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, who described what happened next. "The driver of this van failed to yield for the Cumming Police Department, a chase ensued, the county joined in the chase...the vehicle entered onto Buford Highway at Nuckolls Road, where the county unit saw an opportunity for a pit maneuver."

After the vehicle stopped, the driver fled on foot behind the Kia dealership, leaving his sandals lying on the sidewalk when he ran.

"K-9 units ran a track ending in the Vineyards area, however, we do believe we have the suspect identified, and warrants will be forthcoming " said Neville.
