GAINESVILLE — A New Hampshire man is accused of crashing the car he was driving into a Gainesville jewelry store early Monday to gain entry and take items.

Jack T. Hogan, 28, has been charged with first-degree burglary by Gainesville police.

Officers responded to Dimo Fine Jewelry on Browns Bridge Road about 1 a.m. Monday. A witness told police a silver car did “deliberately ram the business to gain entry,” according to a police news release.

“The single suspect made entry into the business and then left shortly after with numerous items,” Sgt. Kevin Holbrook wrote.

The car was later spotted by officers at Browns Bridge and Skelton roads.

“Upon officers attempting to conduct a traffic stop, the vehicle crashed along Browns Bridge Road at Greencrest [Road],” according to Holbrook.

Hogan was booked in to the Hall County Jail, where he remains. He was also charged with driving under the influence and failure to maintain lane.
