Rape charges against Alpharetta man dismissed by Forsyth County prosecutor
Justice

Charges have been dropped against a man from Alpharetta who was previously accused of rape and aggravated assault in February 2018.

According to court documents filed on Dec. 20, 2018, charges against Anuj Vohra of Alpharetta were dismissed by prosecutor Ramsey R. Magaro and the state declined to prosecute Vohra’s case.

“Although there was probable cause to arrest the defendant, further investigation and witness interviews by the district attorney’s office has determined that there is insufficient evidence to prove the charges beyond a reasonable doubt,” the dismissal states.

Previously, Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Cpl. Doug Rainwater told the FCN that Vohra was taken into custody after an alleged incident with a woman he met online, stating that DNA evidence led them to conclude that a crime was committed.

An attorney for Vohra could not be reached for comment on the dismissal as of press time.
