Roswell High School athletic director arrested for alleged DUI in Forsyth County
John Patrick Coen

Roswell High School Athletic Director John P. Coen was arrested on Dec. 9, for allegedly driving under the influence, speeding and failure to maintain a lane.

According to an incident report from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, Coen was pulled over around 10 p.m. in a green Ford F150 for going 88 miles per hour in a construction zone on Highway 400 north and for failure to maintain the lane.

The report stated that “the moderate odor of an alcoholic beverage” was noticed coming from Coen, that his eyes were “bloodshot”, and that Coen admitted to having consumed alcohol earlier in the day, as recently as 6 p.m.

Coen refused both preliminary breath tests and field sobriety tests at the time of the arrest.

He was transported to Forsyth County Detention Center and later made bail.

According to schools.fultonschools.org, Coen is in his 38th year of employment at Roswell High School and serves as 11th grade disciplinarian, athletic director and assistant football coach.

Attempts to reach Coen for comment as of press time were unsuccessful.
