SOUTH FORSYTH -- Authorities went door to door Saturday in several south Forsyth subdivisions as they attempted to capture an armed robbery suspect.

The effort was part of an 11-hour search that involved the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and other law enforcement agencies, tracking dogs and a helicopter.

Although authorities said there’s a high probability that the subject is gone, and they have deactivated their command post, they will continue to patrol a 5-square mile area near Highway 9 and Bethelview Road.

According to authorities, the robbery occurred about 2 a.m. Saturday at the BP station on Hwy. 9 and Windward Parkway in Alpharetta.

Two men and one woman were reportedly involved and left with the cash register drawer containing an undisclosed amount of money.

A witness got the tag of the getaway vehicle, which authorities traced to an address in the Kentmere subdivision of south Forsyth.

"Fortunately, we just happened to have eight extra deputies working a burglary suppression task force in south Forsyth, and they were waiting when the suspects pulled into their driveway, "said Sheriff Duane Piper.

Two of the suspects were arrested, but the third ran off into a nearby wooded area. He has tentatively been identified as Kinneth Battle.
