FORSYTH COUNTY — The second suspect has been arrested in a February attack during which a 70-year-old Forsyth County woman was shot twice while defending her home near Lake Lanier.

Samira Young, 28 of Decatur, turned herself in Thursday night to Cobb County police after learning she was wanted, according to Robin Regan, spokesman for the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

Young faces charges of burglary, aggravated assault and aggravated battery stemming from several incidents in Forsyth, Cobb and Fulton counties.

She and her apparent accomplice, 25-year-old Corey Waithe of Decatur, are the suspects in the Feb. 2 incident. The homeowner survived gunshot wounds to her stomach and arm after confronting the intruders in her Magnolia Avenue home northeast of Cumming.

They also are the suspects in two other residential burglaries on the same date in the county and are thought to have worked together in all incidents in question, according to authorities.

Waithe has remained at the Fulton County Jail since March after he was shot several times by a homeowner during a similar crime in Atlanta.
