The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office is now investigating a series of smash-and-grab car break-ins that occurred at a local park over the weekend.

According to sheriff’s office incident reports, on Saturday, Dec. 29 deputies responded to Lower Pool and West Bank Park in east Forsyth to investigate reports that several vehicles had their windows smashed out and valuables stolen at some point earlier in the morning.

In total, six vehicles were broken into and two wallets containing about $200 were stolen at the parks.

A witness at the scene reported seeing a maroon sedan in the area at the time, but no other suspects or leads were listed at the time of the report.

During previous incidents of vehicle break-ins in the county, local law enforcement officers have cautioned residents to always lock their vehicles and never leave any valuables or personal belongings in plain view.
