A standoff situation with a Forsyth County man Thursday afternoon was resolved without arrests, according to authorities.

According to Cpl. Doug Rainwater, public information officer for the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, the incident started with a 911 call from a neighbor in the Settler’s Lake subdivision off Jot Em Down Road in north Forsyth County who said they had heard shots fired.

When deputies responded, they said the man, who was armed, refused to come out of the house. A full SWAT and crisis negotiating team responded to the scene.

The negotiating team eventually determined no shots had been fired and no crime had been committed. Authorities said the man was alone in the home. Authorities cleared the scene at 3:40 p.m.

Alcohol may have been a factor, authorities said.
