Two DeKalb County men are in custody Tuesday on drug and theft charges after numerous 911 calls allowed authorities to track down the suspects in minutes.
Lamar English, 22 and Darein Rashad Hilliard, 27, both of Dekalb County, were arrested and charged with theft by taking and possession of marijuana after a number of different witnesses allegedly observed them stealing packages from mailboxes in north Forsyth, according to Cpl. Doug Rainwater, spokesman for the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.
Rainwater said that they received four 911 calls that provided vital information about the suspects, including a vehicle description and a tag number, and were able to flood the area in north Forsyth with patrol cars.
Rainwater said that within 6 minutes of the calls, the two were in law enforcement custody at the intersection of Kelly Mill and Bethelview Roads.
He added that upon searching the suspect’s vehicle and their clothing, deputies found a handgun and marijuana.
Rainwater said that more charges are pending for both men based on the outcome of the investigation.
