SOUTH FORSYTH — Two 18-year-olds have been charged in connection with the theft of an ice tea container from a south Forsyth sandwich shop.

Both young men face one count of theft by taking, with the container valued at $100, according to a Forsyth County Sheriff’s report.

The incident happened about 5 p.m. Monday at the Subway on Mathis Airport Parkway. One of the suspects reportedly entered and acted as if he was getting a drink.

He then picked up the tea container and walked out of the eatery with it and into a waiting vehicle with the second teen.

The incident was apparently recorded by the teenagers and posted on one of their social media accounts, which a Subway employee found and showed to investigators.

It was indicated in the report that the employee knew one of the teens and was, therefore, able to identify him and gain access to his social media profile.

By the time deputies caught up with the two suspects later that night, the label had been removed from the container.

Both teens were taken into custody on the misdemeanor, bondable charge, and the tea container was returned to the business.
