Two stabbings investigated
Incidents not connected

Four people were injured, one seriously, in two separate stabbings that occurred early this week.

The incidents, which are not connected, occurred about 36 hours apart in different parts of the county.

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office is handling a stabbing that occurred at a pool house early Tuesday in the Riverstone Plantation subdivision.

The agency was alerted to the incident about 5 a.m. The neighborhood is off Jot Em Down Road in north Forsyth.

Authorities said three men were involved and two were treated for non-life threatening injuries at the scene and released.

Sheriff’s Lt. Col. Gene Moss said authorities think the incident was drug-related.

He said one of the men is in custody, but declined to comment further on the matter.

In an unrelated incident, a man from Cumming remained in custody Tuesday, two days after he reportedly stabbed his mother, authorities said.

Ryan Cocuzza, 30, was arrested Sunday and charged with aggravated assault, said Cumming Police Sgt. Bryan Zimbardi.

He is being held at the Forsyth County Detention Center. Bond has not been set.

Zimbardi said Cocuzza’s mother, 60-year-old Bonnie Cocuzza, was stabbed several times in the upper body and arm at the family’s home in the Adair Park subdivision.

She was taken first to North Fulton Hospital in Roswell and then Atlanta Medical Center, where she was in critical but stable condition, Zimbardi said.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident, which happened about 6:45 p.m. Sunday.

Zimbardi said Bonnie Cocuzza ran outside and got help from some neighbors, who called 911.

Shortly after they arrived, Cumming police officers also found Ryan Cocuzza, who had what appeared to be several self-inflicted stab wounds to his chest.

He was treated at North Fulton before being released to authorities.
