Authorities are looking for a hit and run suspect in connection with a three-vehicle, rush-hour wreck that injured two women near downtown Cumming.

The wreck occurred about 5 p.m. Wednesday on Veterans Memorial Boulevard.

Cumming Police Officer John Coffman said authorities are searching for a dark sport utility vehicle.

“The suspect vehicle should have light damage to the front driver’s side,” he said.

Coffman said a woman was seen driving the SUV. She apparently turned left off of Resthaven Drive and struck a 2004 Mazda 3 that was traveling south on Veterans Memorial.

The collision pushed the car, driven by Bell Mendez, 35, of Donnemore Trace, into a northbound 2005 Toyota Sienna van, driven by 32-year-old Amy Hitch of Dawsonville.

Both women were taken to area hospitals, where they were treated and released.
