A 27-year-old woman faces drug charges following a head-on collision Thursday on Hwy. 369 in northern Forsyth County.

Belinda Jo Kilgore of Hickory Bluff Drive has been charged by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office with driving under the influence of drugs and failure to maintain lane.

Sheriff’s Capt. Frank Huggins said the wreck, which occurred about 5 p.m. near Hendrix Road, shut down the crossing for about an hour.

He said Kilgore was heading east on Hwy. 369 in a 1994 Chevrolet Blazer when she collided with a 2006 Chevrolet Colorado driven by 18-year-old Timothy Guy Hayes of Bristol Trail.

“He said he looked up and she was in his lane coming across the yellow line and hit him head on,” Huggins said.

He said authorities found prescription medication in Kilgore’s truck.

Kilgore complained of pain in her chest, leg and foot, and was flown to Grady Memorial Hospital, he said. A spokeswoman at the Atlanta hospital said Friday she was listed in stable condition.

Huggins said Hayes suffered a cut on his elbow and “was a little shaken.” He said Hayes was taken by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.

His condition could not be determined.
