Alpharetta authorities are investigating a fatal wreck on Ga. 400 north that claimed the life of a 67-year-old Cumming man.

According to a report from the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred about 10:20 a.m. Wednesday north of Haynes Bridge Road.

The report said that Edward Kivlin died at the scene after the Nissan Pathfinder he was driving was struck by a Honda Civic, which had crossed into his northbound lane from an adjacent one.

Both drivers reportedly lost control as their vehicles slid into a grassy area next to the Haynes Bridge northbound ramp.

After striking a guardrail, the Nissan overturned several times and went down an embankment, according to the report.

The Honda was struck by a Dodge minivan traveling along the ramp from Haynes Bridge Road.

The driver of the Honda, whose name has not been released, was taken to North Fulton Hospital with unknown injuries, the report said. The driver of the minivan was not hurt.

No charges have been filed and the investigation continues.
