CUMMING -- Julia Hagood looked up at the flag that she just unfurled in memory of her father, John M. Hagood, who served in the United States Airforce, on Friday during the city of Cumming’s Memorial Day ceremony. Six American flags placed in memory of 13 veterans were added to the city’s Avenue of Flags at the Veterans War Memorial during the ceremony. Georgia Army National Guard Lt. Col. Reed L. Berry — who commands the 3rd Battalion, 121st Infantry 48th Infantry Brigade Combat Team station in Cumming — delivered the keynote address of the ceremony, which also included a dove release, a rifle salute by members of the Forsyth County Fire Department and Sheriff’s Office honor guards and performances from the North Georgia Barbershop singers.
