The Democratic Women of Forsyth County has again been voted the state’s most outstanding chapter.

The local group received the honor during the recent Georgia Federation of Democratic Women’s state convention in Macon. It was the second time in three years the chapter has won the award.

Chapter Past President Mary Chatfield said she was “jumping up and down. I couldn’t believe it.”

“It’s all due to a lot of hard work and organization by a group of wonderful women,” she said. “I am beyond thrilled that in the three years I served as president we have now won this award twice, and I hope the residents of Forsyth County will become even more aware that there are Democrats residing here who do a lot of great work.”

In addition to the chapter recognition, Chatfield and Marilyn Beverly were honored with the Bouquet Award, which goes to outstanding women within the chapters.

Having passed the president’s gavel to Magali Axson, Chatfield said she hopes “our organization will continue to grow.”

“It is especially gratifying that our membership is growing each month in Forsyth County and that we were once again recognized with this award,” she said.
