Authorities have given up the search for a boat that reportedly capsized Sunday, April 15, near Port Royale Marina off Lake Lanier in Forsyth County or possible occupants.

“We searched the area thoroughly and did not find a vessel, any victims or any sign of debris,” spokesman Mark McKinnon said.

“We believe that a boat may have partially capsized and, due to low visibility in the rain, the witnesses may have not seen it leave the area. All safety personnel are off the water at this time.”

Also involved in the search were Hall County Fire Services and the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.
