The intersection of Castleberry and Bethelview roads closed for about two hours Tuesday morning after a construction truck downed a power line and traffic signal.

A CW Matthews bobcat doing work at the crossing “struck a guide wire causing a pole to lean inward,” said Doug Rainwater, a spokesman for the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

As the pole fell , a truck hit the overhead traffic signals, Rainwater said.

The incident, which occurred about 7:14 a.m., slowed the morning commute.

The sheriff’s office also responded to a single-vehicle wreck Monday night on Hwy. 53 near Keith Bridge Road.

A tractor-trailer overturned about 5 p.m., which caused the road to close in both directions for about an hour.

The driver was taken to a hospital with what were described as non-life threatening injuries, Rainwater said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
