SOUTH FORSYTH — A two-vehicle wreck in south Forsyth has claimed the life of a 74-year-old Johns Creek woman.

According to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, Nancy Yeakel died Thursday night at North Fulton Hospital, where she had been taken after a mid-morning crash.

The sheriff’s office said the collision occurred about 11 a.m. at Johns Creek Parkway and McGinnis Ferry Road.

Yeakel was driving a 2006 Toyota Avalon south on Johns Creek Parkway when it was struck by a 2013 Jeep Patriot, which was traveling west on McGinnis Ferry Road.

According to the preliminary reports from the sheriff’s office, it appears the driver of the Patriot, 39-year-old Eric V. Hasslock of Cumming, failed to stop at a red light. The Patriot struck the Avalon on the driver’s side door.

Both drivers were taken to North Fulton, where Hasslock remains with what authorities described as non-life-threatening injuries. 

As of Friday afternoon, no charges had been filed and the crash remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office.

The fatality was the second of the week — and second involving a Johns Creek resident — on Forsyth County roads.

Monday night, 50-year-old Eden Sara Hersh died after a single-vehicle collision on Ga. 400 in south Forsyth.

Hersh, 50, was heading south on Ga. 400 near the McFarland Boulevard exit when the Honda Pilot she was driving left the road and struck a concrete pole, according to the sheriff’s office.

Hersh was taken to North Fulton Hospital, where she later died.

She was traveling alone and no other vehicles were involved, the sheriff’s office said.
