According to information posted on the Advanced Disposal website, Eagle Point Landfill in northwestern Forsyth County is closed to commercial traffic.

The news update on the website says, "During a routine daily inspection, unusual settlement was observed in the working area.  To comply with our landfill operating procedures and to adhere to our safety standards and protocols, we have stopped accepting waste in the working area of the landfill."

The update indicates that the landfill is in compliance with EPD regulations, but that they have decided to close as what they termed a "precautionary action."

The landfill convenience center, where residents can unload small loads of trash into a dump container remains open, and the web update says Eagle Point expects to reopen the main landfill, which accepts over 5,000 tons of waste per day, on Monday.
