A West Forsyth High School graduating senior was one of four recipients of a $1,000 college scholarship from American Legion Post 201 in Alpharetta.

Kayla Draffin, the daughter of Linda and Daniel Draffin of Cumming, plans to study mathematics/statistics at Georgia College and State University.

The students, who were honored during a recent Legion banquet, were selected from a field of applicants based on their academic performance, community service and citizenship.

The other recipients were Jeremy Feinberg of Johns Creek High and Trevor Dean and Vikrant Jain, both of Milton.

Each year Post 201 seeks outstanding students from the community to consider for scholarships. Applications are made through guidance counselors at each school.
