Forsyth County students are invited to apply for a scholarship honoring the memory of a late judge.
The North Georgia Community Foundation is accepting applications for the Judge Richard S. “Stan” Gault Education Scholarship.
The scholarship was created by Gault’s family in 2010 to provide an opportunity for deserving students in the community to pursue their educational goals.
The $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a non-traditional student whose primary residence is in Forsyth.
Applicants can be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree.
Gault’s widow and former Forsyth County School Superintendent Paula Gault said the scholarship is an appropriate way to honor the memory of her husband, who died in July 2003, after serving many years as a Forsyth County Superior Court judge.
“Stan was an advocate for lifelong learning, and we couldn’t think of a better way to honor him than by helping to provide someone looking to return to school the opportunity to do so,” she said.
Applications will be accepted through Oct. 15 and the scholarship will be awarded for spring 2013 semester.
