The library's friends will hold their biggest book sale this weekend.

With about 10,000 books, compact discs and DVDs up for grabs, the Forsyth County Public Library Friends & Advocates is calling the semiannual fundraiser its largest yet.

"That's what makes the sale special," said spokeswoman Paula Glover. "We have filled up our two storage units. We have more inventory than really we know what to do with."

For the first time, the sale will include sections of vintage editions, bundled series and like-new hardcover books due to the huge variety available, Glover said.

Materials at the sale start at 50 cents and range in price up to the valuable high-end antique books.

Members of the organization will get the advantage of shopping Friday during a preview sale, but Glover added that anyone can buy a one-year membership for $10 at the door.

For the best selection, she said it's best to shop earlier during the sale.

"Our children's section is always so very popular," Glover said. "We have so much to choose from, and that's one of the first places that books come in.

"They just raid the children's book table."

Organizers still are looking for volunteers, who can receive free items. For each hour worked, volunteers receive one book, Glover said.

Books for the semiannual sales are donated year round, with all proceeds benefitting projects at Forsyth's public library system.

The sales are the Friends only fundraisers, Glover said, and they are an easy way to contribute.

"Come get a good book and support the library," she said.
