A Gainesville school that serves students both with and without disabilities is registering new students.
Challenged Child and Friends, or CCAF, enrolls more than 80 children between the ages of 6 weeks and 6 years. The school on Murphy Boulevard offers on-site speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy and music therapy.
Parents can register their child from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 3 and can contact the school to schedule a tour or alternate registration time. The school will also hold an open house from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Aug. 13.
Family services coordinator Creystal Castell said CCAF is one of the few schools in the area with an integrated approach to educating students with special needs.
“Typical peers are in class with peers who have developmental disabilities or autism or special needs,” Castell said. “They learn together, they play together.”
The first day of school at CCAF is Aug. 17.
