Lanier Technical College will present its College Day Career Expo from 9:30 a.m. to noon Wednesday at its Forsyth Conference Center.
According to information from the college, the event will introduce high school students to career opportunities available through secondary education.
About 200 students from area high schools are expected to attend the event, which will provide information on college programs in interactive displays. Business and community members representing various career fields will also be there.
Besides Lanier Tech, other schools in attendance will include: the University of North Georgia; DeVry University; and Reinhardt College.
Representatives from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, Fire Department, U.S. Marine Corps and Army will also attend.
The event is geared toward high school students opting out of the PSAT exam since they may not be considering higher education.
“We want to encourage these students to seek post-secondary education by allowing them to speak with local business leaders, as well as faculty and students of … local area universities,” said Dave Parrish, a Lanier Tech spokesman.
The conference center is at 3410 Ronald Reagan Blvd.
